Learn how to activate User Parameters so that they are available to use in a CAM document
User Parameters are specialized custom parameters designed for use with your specific post processor. You should have received a User Parameters document from your TopSolid supplier, which accompanies your post processor and machine definition.
To allow User Parameters to be used, you must activate an option within TopSolid.
- Go to the Tools Pull down menu.
- Expand CAM Options.
- Select User parameters.
- Select the check box to activate them.
- Select the Green Check to save this modification.
Next, be sure that your project is referencing the library that has your User Parameter file in it. In the sample below, you will see that we are referencing the TS-USA Demo Machines library. And in that library, you will see the custom User Parameter file(s).
Finally, in your CAM document, you can now go and create or edit a tool path and activate and use your custom parameters by:
- Create/Edit a machining operation
- Select the Tool Path Settings button
- Activate the User Params tab (put a check in the box)
- Select your specific User Parameters to use
- Set the parameters as needed
