Step 23 – Programming a Multus U3000 – Finish Side Milling Open Pockets

Within the twenty-third video of this 25-video series on programming a Multus U3000 with TopSolid'CAM, we will finish side milling our open pockets.

After making the needed settings adjustments to establish a proper angular solution, you will notice that TopSolid wants to machine in an area behind the pocket we are working on, which is quite normal. TopSolid’s default is to try to do everything it can at once in order to save you time.  But, TopSolid’s machine the local feature functionality allows us to easily direct TopSolid to only work on our open pocket.

Ultimately, we want to finish milling the walls and the floors of our open pocket. I decide that using radial passes is the best way to go and establish the appropriate settings.

With the needed settings in place, as if you haven’t gotten the point by now, I once again show off TopSolid’s part programming efficiency. With a single drag-and-drop, I copy the toolpath I just completed to the open pocket on the other side of the part – the second pocket programmed in merely a matter of seconds.
