Within the seventeenth video of this 25-video series on programming a Multus U3000 with TopSolid'CAM, I will demonstrate programming additional ID milling using TopSolid’s polar coordinate milling capabilities.
TopSolid makes this operation much easier by identifying every ID pocket automatically. All of this automatic identification and automatic toolpath creation is wonderful, but in some cases the automatically created decisions will result in over travels that must be corrected.
TopSolid makes these adjustments easy by allowing you to simply switch from XY machining to polar coordinate machining. With my toolpath adjustments completed after switching to polar coordinate machining, I run simulation to check my work.
As you watch the simulation you will notice that my polar coordinate machining settings are causing the C axis to move, rather than the XY axis. I didn’t have to delete the toolpath and start over to implement this needed adjustment, I simply activated this very handy command.
