Within the fourteenth video of this 25-video series on programming a Multus U3000 with TopSolid'CAM, I will demonstrate how to copy a tool from another CAM file.
I need to create a ID turning tool that can drill down the length of my part. I remember, however, that I created a similar tool for another job. Rather than going to my database and searching for the tool, I take a quicker route. I simply go to the project for which I created the similar tool.
After finding the tool, I simply copy it. I then, go back to the tool manager of my current project and paste the tool into the appropriate part of the machine – in this case the spindle.
As I am sure that you will realize right away, the ability to quickly reuse previously created tools saves a create deal of time. More time for the fun stuff!
